School Heads’ Managerial Competence Focusing on Teaching and Learning and Its Relationship with Instructional Competence of Kindergarten Teachers

ABSTRACT

—— The researcher aimed to determine the relationship between school heads’ competence on focusing on teaching and learning and instructional competence of kindergarten teachers in North Sector, Division of Pampanga during the School Year 2024-2025. Quantitative approach was utilized for this research endeavor. To be more specific, a correlational design was implemented. There were 84 kindergarten teachers who were requested to be the respondents. These teachers were selected randomly. Questionnaire and documentary analysis were utilized as instruments. Weighted mean, frequency and percentage and Pearson r were used for interpretation. Results tell that kindergarten teachers rated their school heads as very competent in focusing on teaching and learning as shown on its grand mean of 3.57. In addition, the instructional competence of kindergarten teachers based on their classroom observation rating. 60.64. % of the kindergarten teachers have outstanding rating, while 39.36% have very satisfactory rating. Furthermore, the relationship between the level of competence of the school heads on focusing on teaching and learning and instructional competence of kindergarten teachers recorded an r-value of 0.6128 and p-value of 0.0000. Lastly, an enhanced technical assistance plan is crafted based on the findings of the study. The study is expected to have implication on the improvement of management of schools in the public system. Keywords: managerial competence, teaching and learning, PPSSH, school heads
