ABSTRACT

—— This study explored the study habits of select Grade 1 Beginning Readers in Bacolor North, Pampanga, during the School Year 2024-2025. A qualitative research method was employed in this study. Specifically, the phenomenological research design served as the primary guide for conducting the research. Based on the findings, three (3) major themes describe the study habits of Grade 1 Beginning Readers. First, Developing Independence and Responsibility in Learning, Second, Parental Engagement Enhances Learning Motivation. Third, Balanced Routines Encourage Good Study Habits. Also, three (3) major challenges impede the effective development of study habits among Grade 1 Beginning Readers. First, Digital Distractions and Environmental Noise. Second, Short Attention Span and Lack of Motivation, and third, Curriculum Load and Fast-Paced Instruction. Furthermore, three major instructional supports that teachers believe are essential in developing children’s study habits. First, Individualized and Remedial Instruction. Second, the Use of Interactive and Visual Learning Materials, and Third, Strengthened Home–School Collaboration. The model illustrates the interrelationship among three major dimensions: Children’s Study Habits, Perceived Challenges, and Instructional Support. It explains how internal and external factors interact to influence the development of effective study habits among Grade 1 Beginning Readers.
