—— Multipurpose cooperatives are recognized as vital drivers of rural economic development, yet empirical evidence on their economic benefits, operational barriers, and program effectiveness remains fragmented, particularly in municipal-level contexts in the Philippines. This study examined the economic benefits, operational barriers, and program effectiveness of multipurpose cooperatives in the Municipality of Caramoran, Catanduanes, Philippines, during the 2026 calendar year. Employing a descriptive-correlational research design, data were collected from 126 officers and members using a validated questionnaire (Cronbach’s α = 0.94). Results revealed that economic benefits were highly evident (GWM = 3.58), operational barriers were frequently encountered (GWM = 3.49), and program effectiveness was highly effective (GWM = 3.61). Pearson correlation analyses demonstrated significant relationships between economic benefits and cooperative performance (r = 0.641), operational barriers and program effectiveness (r = -0.642), and program effectiveness and economic sustainability (r = 0.715) at p < 0.05. A strategic intervention plan was developed to strengthen governance, financial sustainability, market competitiveness, and regulatory compliance. The findings underscore the importance of addressing operational barriers to enhance program effectiveness and ensure the long-term sustainability of multipurpose cooperatives in rural economies.
