ABSTRACT

—— The study described the leadership competencies of the head teachers in the North District, Division of the City of San Fernando, during the 2024-2025 school year. The study’s respondents included the public head teachers and teachers in the said district. This study employed a quantitative method using a descriptive-correlational design. The statistical treatments employed were frequency and percentage, weighted mean, one-way ANOVA, and ttest for independent samples. Based on the findings, most head teachers hold master’s degrees and are pursuing graduate studies, with a large group having served as head teachers for 6-10 years. They possessed a high level of leadership competence across all leadership domains, as assessed by both of them and their teachers. There was no significant difference in the leadership competence of the head teachers when they were grouped based on their educational qualifications. Conversely, there was a significant difference in their leadership competence when head teachers were grouped according to their length of experience. There was a significant difference in the leadership competence assessments between the head teachers and teachers, as head teachers rated higher than the teachers. The Leadership Development Plan addresses the specific areas for development identified by the teacher respondents while maintaining a high level of leadership competence.
