——This study investigates the engagement levels of Grade 6 students in their science learning and identifies the factors that influence their participation. A total of 135 students were surveyed regarding their demographic characteristics, including family income level, parental education, and parental occupation. The study found that family income and parental occupation significantly correlate with student engagement in science learning, with higher engagement levels observed in students from families with higher incomes and parents in professional or managerial occupations. The overall level of student engagement in science was categorized as “Engaged,” with the highest levels of participation in classroom behavior, creativity, and class discussions. However, lower engagement was observed in areas such as interest in science topics, application of scientific concepts, and inquiry skills. Based on these findings, the study recommends the development of a hands-on activities program, increased use of technology, and targeted support for students from lower-income families to enhance their engagement in science learning. The study highlights the need to foster a deeper interest in science topics and improve students’ inquiry skills through engaging and interactive learning experiences.
