—— This study was geared towards to assessing the level of practice of the protective security operations as Protection and Escort Unity, Police Security and Protection Group. The researcher employed the descriptive method of research by utilizing a questionnaire as the main tool in gathering the needed data. As defined by Calmorin, it is descriptive because it aims to provide an accurate description of a situation of an association between variables from which one can then make some statements about a certain group or population. The primary aim in administering this method is to describe the nature of situation as it exists at the time of the study and to explore the causes of the phenomena. Along this line, the descriptive method of research was employed in this study to describe the profile of police personnel assigned at the Protection and Escort Unit, Police Security and Protection Group Furthermore, the same descriptive method of research was utilized to assess the level of practice of the protective security operations. This study was developmental as it developed intervention proposals addressing the needs to improve the level of practice of the protective security operations . as an output of this study It was found out that majority of the police personnel assigned at the PEU, PSPG are in the middle age brackets. They are in the age brackets wherein experience, potentials, and enthusiasm in the performance of duties and responsibilities are at the peak of their profession. Most of the are male and single. The police personnel assigned at the PEU, PSPG are distributed in each of the rank classifications in the PNP. The said operational support unit of the PNP is observing a pyramidal organizational structure that is based on its staffing pattern and manning level. the rank classifications in the PNP. Majority of the respondents attended the Basic Recruit Course and some on Specialized Training.The Police Personnel from the Protection and Escort Unit highly practiced the Protection Security Operations and the Police Security and Protection Group also practiced the Protection Security Operations There is significant relationship between the level of practice on the Protection Security Operations The relationship is very high on age and years in service,high relationship on sex and in-service and specialized traiing and negative perfect correlation on the ranks.The computed value for the Z test is greater than the tabulated value thereby rejecting the null hypothesis. There is significant difference on the perception of the Police Protection Escort unit and the Police Security and Protection Group on the level of practice on Protection Security Operations Problems on . personnel resources; logistical requirements; Inter-agency snipping; VIP’s cooperation; and lateral coordination are all serious as manifested by the respondents. Based on the major findings in this study, it was concluded that majority of the police personnel assigned at the PEU, PSPG are in the middle age brackets. Most of them are male and single.The police personnel assigned at the PEU, PSPG are distributed in each of of the rank classifications in the PNP. Considering the findings and conclusions drawn it was recommended to require police personnel assigned at the PEU, PSPG to undergo other specialized training such as comprehensive Intelligence and investigation course, foreign schooling and the likes, which are considered as very relevant in enhancing individual and collective performance of human resources, not only for upward mobility but also for more effective and efficient protective security operation activities of the unit. Conduct of continuous and honest assessment and evaluation of individual and/or unit performance with the purpose of identifying threats and weaknesses on the part of the PEU, PSPG affecting the protective security operations being undertaken by the unit and transforming these into opportunities and strengths. Periodic and regular consultation/conferences with the different stakeholders and end-users of the services provided by the PEU, PSPG to discuss problems met in the performance of mandated powers and functions and to encouraging their cooperation in the mitigation of the problem and eventually draw possible solutions coupled with the proper representation addressed to the NHQ, PNP. Likewise, acquisition of the needed state-of-the-art communication equipments and the activation of Tactical Operation Center (TOC) at the Office of the Operations and Management Division are highly recommended to monitor the movements of the deployed protective security personnel. Establish linkage and liaison programs with different government offices, other law enforcement agencies, tri-media, and other sectors of the society who may play an important role in enhancing the protective security operations to harness and elevate the performance of the mandated powers and functions of the PEU, PSPG.The intervention measures prepared should be submitted to higher authorities for implementation. Findings of this study should be used by future researchers as springboard for similar investigations in other learning areas.
